How messaging works in CrewLAB

Written by CrewLAB Marketing

Chats keep team communication in one place instead of spread across group texts and other apps. Every message is time-stamped, stored securely, and visible only to people on your team.

You can create as many channels as you like.

The kinds of chat

Default team channels are created for you when a team is set up. You don't have to make them. Default chats cannot be deleted or archived. Access to default channels is adjusted automatically when a user changes roles.

Custom chats are channels you create yourself, for a topic, an event, or a subgroup.

Direct messages are one-to-one conversations, with rules that depend on role and age.

Club announcements is a Club space channel for messages that reach everyone across all teams.

How to create a custom chat or direct message?

Anyone can create a new custom chat or start a direct message with a coach. Athlete-to-athlete direct messaging is not allowed. This makes communication in CrewLAB open, transparent, and reviewable.

To create one

  1. Go to the Chats tab.

  2. Tap the pen and paper icon.

  3. Select the team member(s) you want in the chat.

  4. Name the channel, and add a short description if you want one.

To add members to a chat channel after it's been created

  1. Go to the chat you want to add members to

  2. Tap on the settings icon

  3. Select Add Members

  4. Select the members and click on Add

Send attachments, GIFs, and links

In any channel you can send:

  • Images and files from your device, including PDFs

  • Animated GIFs

  • Website links

  • Emoji reactions to messages
