Link a parent and an athlete

Linking connects a parent's account to their athlete's. A parent, an athlete or a coach can start the process, and whoever receives the request accepts it.

Both parties have to be on CrewLAB with their own accounts before they can be linked.

Linking is what gives a parent visibility of their athlete's involvement with the team. Once linked, a parent can:

A parent, an athlete or a coach can send the request. Whoever receives it has to accept before the link is made, so nobody is linked without agreeing to it.

Go to your own profile, then Details, then Connected Child if you're a parent or Connected Parents if you're an athlete. Follow the linking flow from there.

The path is the same, except a coach works from someone else's profile rather than their own. Open either the athlete's profile or the parent's profile, go to Details, then Connected Child for a parent or Connected Parents for an athlete.

Go to your own profile, then Details, and look under the connected children or connected parents section. Confirm the connection there.

Once a parent is linked to a minor athlete, they're added automatically as a view-only participant in any direct message between that athlete and a coach.

This is on by default and can't be switched off. Nobody has to remember to include the parent.

View-only means the parent can read the conversation but doesn't take part in it. The athlete and coach message each other normally.

Without a linked parent, a minor athlete's direct messages to a coach need a second adult in the conversation instead. If neither is in place, the message is blocked.

If you registered your child for a program and created their profile in the process, check whether they already appear under Connected Child before sending a request.
