2023 Release notes

Written by CrewLAB Marketing

December 2023

🌟 New

  • Connect your Garmin account. Garmin data now flows into CrewLAB. Open your profile, go to Settings → Connected Accounts, pick Garmin, and sign in to authorize it. Watch the walkthrough.

  • Single player mode. You no longer need a team to use CrewLAB. Solo athletes get the full training experience, and anyone whose team situation changes keeps uninterrupted access to their own history.

📈 Improved

  • Role changes in the app. Coaches can promote and demote teammates from the profile screen. Coaches get moderation powers, priority on notifications and other privileges.

  • Workout upgrades. Daily check-in data is now tied to workout data, and you can adjust an assigned workout to match what you actually did.

  • Edit and copy comments and messages. Fix the embarrassing typo, and pull text out of CrewLAB into your other apps.

🔧 Fixed

  • Campaign points are more reliable, so your bragging rights hold up.

November 2023

🌟 New

  • Multiple groups. You can now belong to several groups at once, with a different role in each — coach one, row with another. Workouts follow you across every group you're in, while videos, messages and schedules stay put in the group they belong to. Switch or add a group from the dropdown at the top.

📈 Improved

  • Notifications. They read more like a human wrote them, and you can subscribe to a teammate's updates to know the moment they train.

  • Speed. The app starts up a lot faster, just like you.

🔧 Fixed

  • A handful of stability fixes and some general cleanup.

August 2023

🌟 New

  • Wellness got a whole new look. The refreshed Wellness section explains why wellness matters to your training, not just what to log. It also brings Wellness Streaks, a way to keep hydration, mindfulness and recovery work going day after day and turn them into habits.

  • Leaderboard redesign. The squad training page got a facelift that makes your training data far easier to read, along with:

    • Time scrolling on the leaderboard, so you can look at any stretch of the campaign.

    • A My Activity section inside My Training, putting your sessions in one place.

    • A teammate's training, viewable straight from their profile.

    • Up and down arrows on campaign leaderboards for quicker movement through the rankings.

    • Time range scrolling on training graphs, for reading trends over a chosen period.

  • Sharing and social. A sharable posts button on the feed, croppable profile pictures, images in comments, and the ability to delete or report a comment so the space stays respectful.

June 2023

🌟 New

  • 🌴 The CrewLAB Summer Smasher is live. Every team now has our summer training points challenge. Teams are split into squads that compete all summer for cardio, conditioning and leadership points.

    • Cardio points. Ten points for each of these: 1 rowing minute, 1 erg minute, 1.5 cycling minutes, 1 running minute, 0.5 swimming minutes, 5 ski minutes, 2 other minutes.

    • Conditioning points. 200 points for 20 minutes or more of lifting, plus 20 minutes or more of stretching and mobility.

    • Bonuses and limits. The point of summer is to get out and do something, so the first hour of training each day earns 33% more. Athletes can also overdo it, so the third hour and anything after it earns 50% less. And because weights alone don't win races, strength and mobility cap at 400 points a day, 200 each.

    • Your dashboard. My Training shows a bar graph of daily points across the week with aggregate metrics. The Leaderboard ranks your team on total points and filters by points, active time or meters. Team Training charts your squad's points against the squads you're up against. My Wellness covers your survey responses for the campaign, with mood and sleep graphs.

April 2023

🌟 New

  • Athlete snapshots. Every athlete now has a snapshot of all the content tied to their profile. Thanks Mike at JU — this one's clutch.

  • Coach moderation. Coaches can delete content that's duplicated or inappropriate. With great power comes great responsibility. Thanks Mike at St. Joe's for keeping your team organized.

  • More workout units. Log distance workouts in whatever units you like — km, mi, take your pick. Thanks Cheyne at West Torrance Running for the suggestion.

📈 Improved

  • Speed. Load times across the platform are dramatically better.

  • Banish the bot. The CrewLAB bot no longer shows up in your metrics. It'll keep hyping you up, though.

  • Navigation. Tap the top bar to jump back to the top of the feed. Thanks again, Mike at St. Joe's.

  • Double tap to like any post in the feed. Thanks to the Glastonbury boys for that one.

🔧 Fixed

  • Decimals are back on running and cycling workouts. Thanks Marcus at CYC.

  • Android video upload issues, resolved.

  • Back-to-back video uploads are faster and steadier. Try to break it.

March 2023

📈 Improved

  • Uploads are ten times faster. Video and photo uploads got a major speed pass, so sharing means less waiting.

  • Stability. A long run of bug fixes and platform upgrades.

February 2023

📈 Improved

  • A faster CrewLAB. Plenty of bug fixes, plus new infrastructure to carry all the teams joining the platform. Tell us if you spot anything still misbehaving.

January 2023

🌟 New

  • Video in the feed. Record and upload video straight from the home screen. Tag whoever's in it to let them know, and talk through what's happening in the comments.

  • Coaching intelligence. A set of insights in Team HQ that you've always wanted and never had time to build in a spreadsheet:

    • Adherence. See who's following your training plan, and whether it's working.

    • Team engagement. See how your team's energy is trending on any given day.

    • Squad leaderboard. Run training challenges between groups without the clunky spreadsheet.

  • Squads. Group your athletes into squads, with squad-specific workouts and reports on the way.

📈 Improved

  • Logging for a teammate is simpler, and everyone still writes their own reflection.

  • Longer workout notes. Marcus at CYC and others told us the limit was too tight, so there's far more room to pour your heart into a post.

  • Notifications have been spotty, unpredictable and hard to clear. They now behave the way you'd expect, so keep @mentioning teammates to keep them fired up.

  • The Team HQ roster includes coaches and looks a lot slicker.

  • Direct links to every section of Team HQ and athlete profiles.

🔧 Fixed

  • Profile pictures on Android upload for everyone now. Thanks Filip at Kent.

  • The lineup tool works better, with more kinks still to iron out.

  • Editing workouts no longer disturbs mentions and pictures.
